The National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40 is a professional organization of young, outstanding trial lawyers across the United States. Members of the organization strive to embody the knowledge, skill, and experience held by America's top attorneys. The organization hosts an interactive boot camp program for members to improve their courtroom confidence and sharpen their trial skills.
The boot camp is divided into four stages: film, lecture, practice, and after hours. In the first stage, boot camp attendees are given access to the CVN trial library of videotapes a week before the program and encouraged to watch selected videos of great trial lawyers in action. The second stage features long-form lectures by reputable trial lawyers on opening and closing statements, cross-examinations, and general advocacy skills.
The third stage is the last formal stage. It features a workshop in which attendees are divided into groups led by veteran trial lawyers acting as coaches. During the workshop, attendees perform 10 to 15 minutes of an opening/closing statement of a case they are working on and receive feedback.
